What I embraced & let go this year

What a year it was! Personally, I witnessed my youngest child start Kindergarten, celebrated 10 years of marriage with my husband Paul, and spent a couple of engrossing theatrical hours in the same room as Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter.

Professionally, I finished my 3rd full year practicing in Needham, touching nearly 200 unique patients in precisely 750 different appointments. (Does the exactness of 750 mean anything?).

The world is dark, but I’m focusing on the light and warmth I can create in my little corner of it.

Something I started this year that I want to keep in my life:

Taking fitness KICKBOXING classes at Field Martial Arts Academy in Norwood. I learned that for me, punching and kicking a giant bag is the most cathartic exercise ever, and is giving me strength and energy. Highly recommend.

Something I let go of this year:

The need to constantly scale and expand my business. I love the practice I have built, it is quite literally the practice I dreamed about when I graduated chiropractic school. And still, the loud patriarchal voice of capitalism ingrained in all of us is screaming that growth is always the answer, that we should always want more, that what we have is not good enough.

In the past I have heard that voice and told myself that I should always try to expand my offerings, make new hires, and grow my business in different ways. I am letting go of listening to that voice.

Rather than spending energy always moving the goalpost and changing my dream practice, I’m going to embrace, celebrate, and enjoy what I’ve built and the beauty of it’s relative simplicity. This is exactly where I want to be in this season of my life, and I’m looking forward to continuing on this beautiful path in 2026.

As always, it is my honor and joy to be your chiropractor. Thank you for your trust, support, and for reading these monthly musings!

Wishing you all a happy and healthy New Year and wishing the world some much needed peace and quiet.

Warmly,

Dr. Lizzie
